Day 66 - A Swirly Hair-On Hide Journal

Today we have another of my hair-on cowhide journals. I love this one because the hide has the prettiest swirl in the hair right on the front of the book. Sort of a cow's cowlick, the hair just swirls into a complete circle, like a whirlwind or whirlpool. So pretty. You can see a close-up in the second photo. Bound with waxed linen thread in a longstitch binding.

The book has six signatures of 14 pages each for a total of 84 leaves (168 pages). It's a nice size with plenty of room for thoughts and notes on each page. The paper is a lovely smooth ivory with a slight tooth and nice weight. The book closes with a leather wrap-around tie with a bone bead on the end.

This is one classy journal. It'll be up for sale at my show in Kingman next weekend.
