Day 70 - An Elegant Red Leather Journal

Today we're going for class. I just love the look and feel of this peddled cowhide in tomato red. My fingers have been itching to make a journal out of it. It's a classic longstitch binding, like all my leather journals, with a couple of large black lava beads sewn onto the spine stitching. There are six signatures of seven pages each of a nice heavy cream paper and a swirly-patterned maroon for the end papers. The book measures 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" x 1".

I originally planned a black leather strap closing on this, but when I tried it, it just seem like too much, sort of cut the book in half visually. So I decided I like it the way it was, clean, simple and classy. I hope you think so too.

  1. I think this is my favorite so far--the clean lines, the classic binding and even the contrasting colors of paper and cover appeal to me. I've just joined you recently but reviewed the archives and think all your book projects are pretty cool--but this is the best! Looking forward to each new addition!

  2. Thanks Pam, and welcome. It's those of you following my progress that help keep me on track.
